Koi – the long awaited Japanese restaurant and sushi bar that finally hit the UAE earlier this year – held a special tasting for media Thursday night – wowing those who attended with a three-course tasting menu. The restaurant offers a sleek interior (loved the outdoor fireplaces on the entrance, the low lighting inside and the greenery divide between restaurant and lounge) with some deep, comfy booths. We started off with a sashimi platter and two passionfruit cocktails I could not put down. I was blown away by the grilled chilean sea bass with honey balsamic glaze and shiso-pea coulis and peppercorn filet mignon with shishito mashed potatoes. The simple warm baby spinach & mushrooms with Ponzu dressing made a lovely side.
Next trip? I’m trying the Kobe filet mignon, pictured below.
