Flooka is just the place for a quiet Friday afternoon spent gazing at the mangroves – or the restaurant’s beautifully appointed interior – while feasting on fish tawouk and samak bel meleh.
Diners can choose from the day’s catch (sometimes brought in by one of the co-founders, who happens to be a fishing enthusiast) – and have their seafood cooked the way they like it: barbecued, grilled or tandoori-style.
The Lebanese restaurant’s main attraction – beside the menu – is a lighting installation by Baroncelli, resembling a shoal of glittering fish suspended from the ceiling.
This is Flooka’s second branch; the other is in Dubai Marine Resort & Spa.
