Reform launches weekly outdoor cinema night

Reform Social and Grill in The Lakes has launched a new weekly film night in its lakeside gardens.

The weekly event, held every Tuesday with the film starting at 8pm (well, about 8.20 last night, but get there before 8 to get the best seats and peruse the garden party-inspired cocktail menu) sees the gardens taken over by bean bags, comfy sofas and, obviously, a big screen while a cinema-themed menu featuring juicy home made hot dogs and popcorn is designed to make you think the roof has fallen off your local megaplex. We checked out last night’s screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and can confirm that the hot dogs are hot, the popcorn is popped and everything works, although with the current unseasonably chilly nights you may want to wear a jacket – we’re advised that the management will be adding blankets to the mix if the cold nights continue.

Films are grouped by genre, with genres changing on a monthly basis. The theme until the end of March is British cinema, with Quadrophenia up next Tuesday, and American teen classics take over in April. You can check the full listings online – October and November look promising with horror in time for Halloween, followed by French classics (perhaps for Armistice Day?) Ladies, meanwhile, should probably head down in May, when I’ll be studiously avoiding Hugh Grant month.

Films are free to view but customers must purchase food or drink.
